WNAC - Midwest Theater events on News Extra Wednesday
Mason Burbach from the West Nebraska Arts Center and Billy Estes from Midwest Theater were guests Wednesday morning on KNEB's News Extra program to talk about the Missoula Children's Theater "Cinderella".
Auditions will be held on Monday, March 5th at 4 p.m. at Midwest Theater. Performances will be on Friday, March 9th. Matinees at 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. and an evening performance at 7 p.m. $1.50 discounted tickets to all school & daycare groups. $5 for WNAC & Midwest Theater members, $7 regular price.
Also the Mary Vaughn collection of acrylic paintings will be on display at the WNAC gallery through March 25th with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. this Friday, March 2nd. A collection of original acrylic paintings with three directions: Bio-techniques, Frenchword, Eco-abstracts.

Prevent Cancer Super Colon exhibit at Monument Mall Friday and Saturday
Jeff Kriewald, director of the Cancer Treatment Center at Regional West and Dr. A.J. Magana join Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Tuesday morning to talk about the Prevent Cancer Super Colon exhibit, which will be open at Monument Mall in Scottsbluff from noon to 5 p.m. this Friday, March 2nd and Saturday, March 3rd.
It features a 20 foot long, 8 foot high Prevent Cancer Super Colon. The event will also include educational displays and booths sponsored by health organizations, hospital departments and physicians' offices.
Visitors can walk through, at no charge, to get a close-up look at healthy colon tissue, tissue with non-malignant colorectal diseases, and tissue with various stages of colorectal cancer. Several local physicians will be on hand to talk to visitors and give tours through the inflatable colon.
The Prevent Cancer Super Colon exhibit is sponsored by Regional West Medical Center, Regional West Foundation, and the Festival of Hope in recognition of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month.

Fish Fry and Colon Cancer Awareness on News Extra
Howard Olsen was our first guest on News Extra Thursday morning to talk about the St. Agnes Fish Fry events to be held this Friday, February 24th, and on March 9th and 23rd at the St. Agnes gymnasium. 5:30 to 8 p.m. each evening. The cost is $8 for adults and $4 for kids under 10.
Then, Terri Allen with the Scotts Bluff County Health Department and Martha Stricker with Regional West Community Health were on the program to talk about the grant that allowed them to purchase 500 screening kits to be given out free during Colon Cancer Awareness Month. Final week for Kindergarten registration!
Wendy Kemling-Horner, Director of Student Services, Scottsbluff Public Schools and Candy Hubbard, Director of Student Services, Gering Public Schools, join Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Tuesday morning to talk about Kindergarten registration, which is due this week for both schools.
Registration of kindergarten students for the 2012-2013 school year, in both Scottsbluff and Gering, will be held February 21-24, in all elementary schools. Registration will be held at the elementary school in the family’s attendance area.
Scottsbluff Public Schools:
February 21-24 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
February 23 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Gering Public Schools

WNCC's 22nd Annual A Gala Evening
Rita Stinner, vocal music director for Western Nebraska Community College joins Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Wednesday morning to talk about the "Masquerade"Ball, which is coming up on February 24 - 25, 2012 at the Gering Civic Center.
The 22nd Annual A Gala Evening will begin with a social hour at 6:15 and dinner service at 7pm. All seating is reserved and by advance sale only. Seating is limited and tickets have sold out each of the last 15 years. Individual tickets are $27.50 and Angel tickets (preferred seating and recognition are $50. 5th Annual Latina Red Dress Event
Anita Touar and Idalia Montelonso joins Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Wednesday morning to talk about the 5th Annual Latina Red Dress Event, which is coming up on Saturday, February 18th at the Gering Civic Center from 8am - 2pm. The event features a health fair 8 - noon, a fashion show, lunch and presentation on cardiovascular health.

1st Annual Panhandle Polar Plunge
Scotts Bluff County Sheriff Mark Overman and Chris Baer joins Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Tuesday morning to talk about the Panhandle Polar Plunge, which is coming up on Saturday, February 25th at the Riverside Park in Scottsbluff. Plungers will jump into the North Platte River. Each plunger to benefit Special Olympics Nebraska.
A plunger can be anyone with enough nerve and heart, willing to dip more than their toes in some freezing water for a good cause. Minimum donations start at $50. Plungers can participate on an individual basis or be part of a team. And if you’re taking the plunge, just know that this event is all about having fun while doing good. In other words, dress up in a costume or come up with a theme for your team, the wackier the better.
Check-in begins at 9:30 a.m. Teams and individual plunges will start at 11:00 a.m. Immediately following the plunge there will be a post-plunge party held at YMCA Camp. Food will be provided for the plungers and the incentives at the $75 & $3,000 level will be given out.

United Way Masquerade Ball next Saturday
Sarah Perry was guest on News Extra Monday morning to promote the United Way of Western Nebraska's Masquerade Ball, which is coming up on Saturday, February 18th at the Scottsbluff Country Club.
The 2nd Annual United Way of Western Nebraska Masquerade Ball will be held on February 18, 2012 at the Scotts Bluff Country Club. Please join us for an evening of fun and laughter beginning at 6:00 p.m. Ventriloquist/Comedian Ian Varella will perform following a New Orleans style dinner. It will be a festive event so wear your masks!

SCORE discussed on News Extra program Wednesday
Jerry Laws and Melvin Loseke were guests on Wednesday morning's News Extra program to promote SCORE, a non-profit association dedicated to helping small businesses succeed. SCORE is a resource partner with the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA), and has been mentoring small business owners for more than forty years.
