Diabetes Upate 2012 promoted on News Extra




Sue Maxcy and Sherry Smart join Dennis Ernest on KNEB's News Extra program Wednesday morning to promote Diabetes Update 2012, which will provide information about diabetes for patients and their families on Thursday, April 12th from 5:30 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. at the Gering Civic Center.

Topics will include Diabetes, Just the Basics by Nurse Practitioner Patty Brisco
Good Carbs, Bad Carbs, No Carbs - Exactly What Should I Eat? by Mary Skiles, Dietition

Dog Show this weekend in Mitchell



Suzanne Kingma was guest on News Extra Tuesday morning to promote the Scottsbluff Kennel Club Dog Show coming up this weekend at the Scotts Bluff County Fairgrounds Event Center in Mitchell.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday with show hours from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

These shows are being held under American Kennel Club rules and regulations.

Kathi Manville joins Kevin Mooney on KNEB's News Extra program Thursday. She talks about the upcoming Customer Appreciation Day Scottsbluff Winter Farmers' Market on Saturday, March 24th from 1pm to 4pm. The event will be held at Aulick's TLC located off Avenue B. This is opportunity for consumers to buy locally grown food. More farmers markets are scheduled for April 7th and April 21st. This will be held outside, so they are weather permitting. KNEB News Extra - March 21, 2012


Nate Lewis, Western Nebraska Area Director for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes joined Kevin Mooney on the KNEB News Extra program on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. There are many FCA events coming up such as the Western Nebraska FCA Spring Banquet is April 25th at the Gering Civic Center. As a result of the funds raised at this banquet, Western Nebraska student athletes and coaches can attend FCA camps and events at a discounted rate.

Any FCA Event between $50 and $100 - student athletes only pay $50
Any FCA Event over $100 - Student athletes and coaches pay only $100

Also FCA has several other events coming up.

Region 22 Emergency Management Director Jerry Bretthauer was guest on KNEB's News Extra program Friday morning.

Jerry was here to talk about Severe Weather Awareness Week, March 19th through the 23rd. And annual Severe Weather Spotter training, Tuesday, March 20th from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Harms Advanced Technology Center on the WNCC campus. All interested persons are welcome to attend, especially those involved with Law Enforcement, Fire Services, Media, Rural Spotters, Amateur Radio, and Citizen's Band Radio. Certificates will be issued.

Mock Tornado Warning Day is Wednesday, March 21st with a mock warning to be issued at 9:30 a.m. (MST) All area health care facilities, schools, businesses, Government Agencies, and individuals are urged to participate either in an actual exercise or by discussing their response plans in an actual Tornado Warning. This is the time for local communities to test their sirens and warning systems. This is also the day to put new batteries in your weather alert radios and give them a test.

SHS to present "Wizard of Oz"




Maggie Hopp and Chris Brening, who play Dorothy and the Scarecrow Scottsbluff High School's production of "The Wizard of Oz" were accompanied by director Brad Ronne on KNEB's News Extra program Wednesday morning. The play runs March 29th through the 31st at 7 p.m. each evening.

The cast is 102 members, including 38 elementary students playing the role of Munchkins. The production has also hired ZFX Flying Effects from Louisville, Ky to provide flying effects for a number of the characters in the show.

Tickets for the production went on sale Tuesday. All seats are reserved and are $9 each.

This Joint is Jumpin' Starts Friday in Torrington




Kids from the Goshen Community Theatre presentation of "This Joint is Jumpin" were Tuesday morning's pre-recorded guests on News Extra. They came to talk about and sing a number from the spring show, which has it's opening night this Friday, March 16th at 7 p.m. in the EWC Fine Arts Auditorium, 3200 West C Street in Torrington.

Adult tickets are $9. students 12 and over and seniors 60 and over $7. Under 12 and EWC students with ID $5. Tickets available at Main Street Market, Pinnacle Bank, Vandel Drug, Torrington Telegram, Cappuccino & Company and Main Street Market Foods in Scottsbluff, EWC outreach/Guernsey.

Wyobraska Spring Show

Study of Constitution discussed on News Extra Thursday




Neal Smith was guest on KNEB's News Extra program to talk about a study of the U.S. Constitution underway at Calvary Memorial Church in Gering. The study group meets every Monday for a total of 10 weeks. It includes a course from the prestigious Hillsdale College "Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution".
