"Poof" presented by L.U.N.A. Theatre Company and DOVES

Jon-Lee Campbell was Wednesday morning's guest on News Extra, here to promote "Poof!"

L.U.N.A. Theatre Company and the DOVES Program are pleased to present the play “POOF!” this October in honor of National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. “POOF!” is the remarkable story of two women’s friendship and the strength it took for one of them to break free of an abusive relationship.

“I chose DOVES as the benefactor of L.U.N.A.'s first production because domestic violence is an issue very close to my heart.  I fell in love with "POOF!" when I read it in college, and I think it will work as an awesome ice-breaker for a very sensitive subject,” said Jon-Lee Campbell, Founder and Director of L.U.N.A. (Love, Understanding, Nurturing and Awareness).   L.U.N.A. is  a non-profit organization dedicated to raising donations and awareness for needy causes, and pushing the envelope.
“The DOVES Program is excited to partner with L.U.N.A in their upcoming production. Domestic violence has long been a topic that isn’t discussed in polite society. DOVES seeks to encourage our community to step up and speak out against domestic violence,” said Lisa Peden, Prevention and Awareness Coordinator for the DOVES Program.

L.U.N.A is offering 6 performances at Peleni’s Jazz & Comedy Club in Scottsbluff:

·         October 19 at 7:00pm
·         October 20 at 7:00pm
·         October 21 at 2:00pm

·         October 26 at 7:00pm
·         October 27 at 7:00pm
·         October 28 at 2:00pm

Doors open 1 hour before show time.  Tickets: $9 or $6 for seniors 60+ and veterans. DOVES will receive 60% of the proceeds to help raise awareness about domestic violence.  **Due to the adult nature of the presentation, suggested audience age is 16 and above. **

Step up and speak out! It’s easier than you think, and your support does make a difference.  Offering support can be as simple as listening to and encouraging someone who is experiencing abuse, talking to a young person about healthy relationships, volunteering your time & skills, posting awareness materials in public places or contributing money, food, or household items to your local domestic violence shelter.

To learn how you can help victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault or stalking in your community, please contact the DOVES Program at 866-95-DOVES (36837) or visit our website at www.DOVESProgram.com.
