The United Way of Western Nebraska just completed a very successful 2012-2013 campaign. The goal for the campaign was $360,000 and they ended up raising $429,543!
Executive Director Steph Black and campaign co-chair Krista Sarchet were guests on KNEB's News Extra program Monday morning to talk about the success of the campaign. Katie Camacho, the other campaign co-chair was unable to be here Monday morning.
The theme for the year was "Teaming up for a Better Tomorrow" and their success is attributed to an amazing community effort. They thanked each person who was part of their team this year, whether they bought a duck in the duck race, donated school supplies to the "Stuff the Bus" project, played golf in their tournament, made a monetary donation, or donated time as a volunteer.
They credited wonderful volunteers who helped promote United Way, 2 hard working campaign co-chairs, 18 loaned executives from local businesses, 17 special events committee members, 26 board members and representatives from 20 agencies that United Way helps fund.
They also had the support of 22 amazing Corporate Pacesetter businesses and their employees. The businesses help raise money for United Way by allowing employees the option to give through payroll deductions, do in-house fundraisers and give corporate donations.
A reminder to 501-(c)3 agencies interested in applying for 2013-2014 United Way funding that the applications need to be turned in to the United Way office by 4 p.m. on Friday, March 8th.
