Steve
Thrasher, of Thrasher Music, donates two new Cort guitars, to be
autographed by John Michael Montgomery and auctioned off, one at each
concert.
Executive
Director Billy Estes says, “We are super excited to work with Steve
on this; his generous donation to the Midwest Theater will help raise
funds for our student preforming arts education programming.
This is a great opportunity for our community to own a little piece
of history from the Midwest Theater and John Michael Montgomery.
Helberg & Nuss is donating their auctioneer services. With
less than 180 tickets remaining for the Feb 13th concert,
I would suggest purchasing your tickets soon to get in on this
opportunity.”
John
Michael Montgomery, platinum-selling country music artist with more
than 30 country music hits between 1992 and 2009 and eleven studio
albums, will perform on Valentine’s Day at the Historic Midwest
Theater Thursday Feb 13 & February 14, 2014 at 8:00 pm.
Montgomery sells out arenas, but now he will perform an acoustic show
“up close and personal” at the Midwest Theater.
Since
the days when “Life’s A Dance” turned Montgomery from an
unknown artist into a national star, John Michael’s rich baritone
has carried that most important of assets - believability. Few
artists in any genre sing with more heart than this handsome
Kentucky-born artist.
Songs
like “I Swear,” “I Love the Way You Love Me” and “I Can
Love You Like That” resonate across the musical landscape - pop,
rock, and country charts. His 2004 hit “Letters From Home” is one
of the most moving tributes to the connection between soldiers and
their families ever recorded and “The Little Girl,” is a tale of
redemption that plumbs both the harrowing and the uplifting. Songs
like "Rope The Moon," "If You've Got Love," "No
Man's Land," "Cowboy Love," "As Long As I Live,"
"Friends" and "How Was I To Know" establish him
as one of the elite acts of the era. He received the CMA Horizon
award and was named the ACM's Top New Vocalist, setting off a long
series of awards that included the CMA's Single and Song of the Year,
Billboard's Top Country Artist, and a Grammy nomination. Pure
fun finds its ways into John Michael’s repertoire - songs like “Be
My Baby Tonight” and “Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)”
that express earnestness and musical whimsy.
