Stacy Ferguson, ESU #13 Early Development 8670Services Coordinator and Julie
Cochran, Early Childhood Coordinator at Gering Public Schools were guests on News Extra Tuesday morning to promote the
"Week of the Young Child."
An annual celebration sponsored by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).
The purpose of the Week of the Young Child is to focus public attention on the needs of young children and their families and to recognize the early childhood programs and services that meet those needs. The 2012 Week of the Young Child is April 22-28 and the theme is Early Years are Learning Years. This is the 41st year.
Here in Scotts Bluff and Banner Counties, the Planning Region 13 is promoting the Week of the Young Child as it is important for us to be familiar with programs that work with young children. Planning Region 13's members include a representative from all school districts in these two counties as well as representatives that work with the education of young children such as Head Start, Early Head Start, WIC, Respite, Health and Human Services, Migrant Program, Deaf Education, and other agencies in the Panhandle. Planning Region 13 supports families that have questions about their child's development and provides support if necessary.
If you have concerns about how your child is developing, please call the Early Development Network at 308-632-8670. Or call ESU #13 at 635-3427.
