Panhandle Humane Society New Director on News Extra
The new Executive Director of the Panhandle Humane Society was on KNEB's News Extra program Monday morning.
Ken talked about his vision for the future of the agency. Plans are already in the works to put a vet-tech in place full time right away, and a full time veterinarian on staff by the end of the year.
They also have plans to either modify or expand their current space to accommodate future projects and growth. He talked about how great the current location is on South Beltline, and examined some of the potential for the new space.
Rich also talked about fundraising activities they have planned, and different grants he is attempting to secure. They have also now reached an agreement with a major pet food manufacturer to provide all of the food for the animals. He explained how switching foods based on what has been donated can cause digestive problems for animals. With them all being on a consistent diet, adoptive owners will then be encouraged to keep the animals at least on the same brand.
Panhandle Humane Society is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and will be open Saturdays form 10 a.m. to noon for adoptions ONLY. Or call them at 635-0922.
